Project Safety Coordinator – Dam Spillway Repair Project
Location: Oxbow, OR (Remote Project Site)
Project: Oxbow Spillway Repair
Start Date: 5/18/2026
Duration: ~12 Months
Schedule: 12-hour days (M–F initially), potential transition to 24/7 operations
Project Overview
ISS is supporting a dam spillway demolition and repair project in Oxbow, OR. This is a remote, heavy civil construction environment involving:
- Dam spillway demolition and structural repair
- Mass earth removal
- Concrete batching and placement
- Rockwall stabilization
The project will involve multiple high-risk activities and specialized trades, including slope access (SPRAT), heavy equipment operations, earthwork, and concrete crews.
Location & Logistics
This is a remote project site with limited nearby infrastructure:
- The closest town is approximately 25 minutes from the site
- IMCO will provide a reserved campsite for consultants
- Ideal candidates will have a travel trailer/RV for on-site living
- Site will include Starlink connectivity and basic accommodations
Position Summary
ISS is seeking a Project Safety Coordinator to support field operations on a high-risk civil construction project. This role will be primarily field-based (75%) and may require multiple hires to support extended or 24/7 operations.
The ideal candidate is solutions-oriented, collaborative, and focused on hazard recognition and mitigation over pure compliance enforcement.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide daily field safety support across all construction activities
- Identify, evaluate, and mitigate high-risk hazards in real time
- Partner with site leadership to solve safety challenges proactively
- Support leading indicator tracking and transparent reporting
- Conduct routine inspections, audits, and field observations
- Assist in the implementation and oversight of site safety programs
- Support safe execution across trades, including:
- Equipment operators
- Carpenters
- SPRAT/rope access personnel
- Earthwork and concrete crews
Qualifications
Required:
- 5+ years of construction safety experience
- OSHA 30 certification
- CPR / AED certification
Preferred:
- CHST or CSP certification
- MSHA experience or exposure
- Experience in heavy civil, infrastructure, or dam projects
- Familiarity with remote or logistically complex job sites
Work Environment & Expectations
- 75% field / 25% administrative responsibilities
- Extended workdays (12+ hours typical)
- Potential for rotating or continuous operations (24/7 coverage)
- Dynamic project environment with evolving scope (change order work)
